Small, friendly, and personal. World class wines in a boutique setting located in The Rocks District of Milton Freewater, Oregon AVA. All grapes are sustainably grown. Dogs are welcome at the vineyard.
Roger is just great to chat with. He makes you feel very comfortable. He knows he's stuff! The setting at his vineyard is impressive. Casual and very inviting. I highly recommend checking out Los Roscosos! -Alex
We really enjoyed Roger’s wine descriptions and knowledge! The wines are excellent - we had a great time tasting through the line up! -Danny
I’ve never enjoyed wine more than Roger's Cosecha de Luna 2018 Reserve Mourvedre and Zaragueya de Luna 2019 Reserve Sangiovese Rose. The quality of these wines is found in the growing of the grapes. Los Rocosos Vineyard is located in one of the two best areas in Oregon to grow wine, the Walla Walla valley. This valley, like the Rogue Valley in southern Oregon, provides a warmer wine growing climate. Los Rocosos grapes have an added advantage. They are grown in the dark basalt soil that makes up the Rock District of Milton-Freewater. The Rock District is unique because of its cobblestone-rich soil that allows the vines to root deeper while the dark soil absorbs more solar radiation. In addition to being a Viticoltore, Roger and Lucinda offer B&B accommodations at this working vineyard. If you are so lucky as to get a reservation, insist Roger make his amazing oatmeal porridge. This is a dog friendly place where dogs roam the vineyard and howling contests are a nightly occurrence. Roger usually has the loudest howl. My dogs can’t wait to return. I can’t wait to enjoy this season’s varietals. -Consuelo M.
We went to other wineries in the Rocks district and stumbled on this one by accident. It was the best one, hands down! The owner takes you on a journey of a random but awesome assortment of wines. The selection they have is completely unique affordable. If I go back to the Rocks District, this will be my first stop! -Jacob M.
I was lucky enough to be able to visit Los Rocosos Vineyards. The timing was perfect because I was able to sit amongst the vines heavy with grapes and enjoy wonderful wine! Over the past couple years I have tried almost every wine that Los Rocosos Vineyard produces and I can say I have very much enjoyed each and everyone. But if I had to choose one, it would be the Reserve Merlot. It was a fantastic paring with steak. It has great ripe fruit flavor with hints of cherry and plum. Merlot can be very dry but Los Rocosos Vineyard's Reserve Merlot was just dry enough to be very drinkable and a smooth mellow wine. Roger walked me around the vineyard showing me the many different varieties of grapes that he was growing. Los Rocosos Vineyards provides wonderful wine for every taste. My orders are shipped across the country and I am always waiting with anticipation for the next delivery. Thank you Roger and Los Rocosos Vineyard! -Allen V.
Los Rocosos Vineyards won’t disappoint. Rodger is a wonderful, knowledgeable host. His tasting room is beautiful. I especially like the fact that pets are welcome since my dog is part of my family. I love his Nine Moon Estate GSM which is a blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah. I recommend stopping in to enjoy this unique winery experience. -Debbie H.

Los Rocosos Vineyards
2020 Arenas Suaves Estate Red Blend, Walla Walla Valley $48 Inspired by the movie Bottle Shock, Roger Lemstrom’s midlife introduction to wine has led him to a 7-acre vineyard in “The Rocks” — so he used the Spanish translation for his project in Milton-Freewater, Ore., which has him selling most of his grapes to boutique wineries in the Walla Walla Valley. This non-traditional blend of Garnacha (in that spirit we’ll use the Spanish word for Grenache) and Sangiovese (33%) led to his first career Platinum, and it’s juicy, fruity and complex. Racy notes of boysenberry and cinnamon are met with red plum-skin tannins and sophisticated finish of fig and bay leaf. (97 cases, 14.4% alc.) Award: Oregon Wine Competition (gold)
Boise Wine Peeps
Price is $44 at the winery. I remember desperately trying to avoid a taste of this at the winery, because I don't care for the Tempranillo grape. It turned out to be one of my ATF Washington wines. Tasting notes: 2/28/2024 rated 95 points: Wow, just wow. Nose is deep, dark, inky, monster flavors appear to be coming soon. Taste - Has the characteristics of a wine you would want by the fireplace with a pricey cigar (I don’t smoke them). More port and Syrah like in its characteristics than you would expect from a Tempranillo. Big dark fruit flavors that scream cold weather winter wine. Wife noted that there were musty notes of tobacco, leather, and cedar. If you love the funky, bold flavors of the Rocks District, this Tempranillo just blew us away!
